A guy I really respect in terms of horror movies, made sure I was informed about the redband trailer of VHS. The trailer alone looks fantastic. I’m not really ever tired of the found footage genre finding it the easiest to get in to atmosphere wise. Something about the wild cam and low quality that works for me. Call it a quirk.
Synopsis Time! “When a group of petty criminals is hired by a mysterious party to retrieve a rare piece of found footage from a rundown house in the middle of nowhere, they soon realize that the job isn’t going to be as easy as they thought. In the living room, a lifeless body holds court before a hub of old television sets, surrounded by stacks upon stacks of VHS tapes. As they search for the right one, they aretreated to a seemingly endless number of horrifying videos, each stranger than the last.
This flick had already made the rounds at the Sundance film festival but us normals will be able to check it out in theaters by October 5th. So far it’s gotten some nice reviews from people who seem compelled to emphasis they dislike found footage and enjoy it in spite of itself. Format doesn’t make or break a movie for me. I will be checking for execution of said format.
